If this is positive or negative depends on the point of view (shortened of course):Phoscyon offers an unmatched sound together with advanced features such as a state of the art Distortion unit fully user configurable BPM sync'd Arpeggiator and Randomizer a unique Play Live mode vintage arrangement and pattern builder, full MIDI CC support and, to top it off, the most authentic 18db/oct low pass filter ever created! Diehard fans of the original Bass Line will be blown away with Phoscyon’s uncanny emulation of the classic, but will also marvel at the ease with which new sounds can be crafted sounds that were not possible on the original. In addition, there is also a lot of back and forth at MS, and projects that are started and stopped after a short time.

On the other hand, Windows' enforced backwards compatibility means a lot of maintenance effort and constantly growing codebase for a single program (sometimes you may not even know parts of the code thoroughly enough because the function you call was written by someone else in the 90ies). Sure, with Apple, parts of the code have to be constantly rewritten. (I've never had a Windows system (hard-/software) that worked 100% but most of the time maybe ~90%)įrom a developer's point of view, I don't think Apple and MS are very different in terms of effort. And a lot of times there are problems for some thousand users with nearly every update.Īt the moment AMD users having trouble with BOD because of an automatically installed hardwaredriver for NVMe SSDs.

MS has to observe myriads of possible hard-/software combinations.

On the other hand the main reason for problems with windows is the great backwards compatibility Windows has. Windows user: The backwords compatibility for 20+ years is great for Windows users with older or mixed new/old equipment. Apple doesn't care much about customers with older equipment. MacOS user: If one is a user with all new hardware and software (or updates everything regularily), he will be greatful that everything he owns works really flawlessly up to 100%.īut for those who don't/can't change their hard-/software every two years, it's not that nice.

Of course as owner of first versions you can count on a very generous discount to get these.Īnticipating the question we can't release (free) maintenance update of these plug-ins mostly because there are very old plug-ins (last update for any of these was released many years back) and the programming framework we base our releases on has changed to the degree that we're unable to preserve compatibility with current plug-in versions if we wan't to switch to new programming framework's version (this is essential to make our software being compatible with the latest OS) and to adjust our code base to those changes along with switching to new preset management and few other functions that changed on our side during few recent years.Īlso new versions will include lot of new features of course.Ĭlick to expand. If this is positive or negative depends on the point of view (shortened of course):

Mind though, new versions compatible with Big Sur won't be released as free maintenance updates, they will be released as entirely new versions (upgrades), meaning v2.0. Unofficially new Phoscyon is first in line at quite advanced development stage. We're currently working on new versions of all products affected to make them work with the latest macOS (among the others) version however these will be released successively one by one without any particular order in mind. At this moment we don't have any precise dates.
